Upstairs Bathroom Progress - The Adored Abode

Welcome to The Weekend Edition where I share everything from design ideas, home decor inspiration, and DIY, to life happenings, products I am loving, organization tips, health and wellness, and really any other topic as it comes to mind.

I know it’s Monday, but it’s technically still the weekend thanks to the long weekend for Memorial Day.

Did you catch my blog posts last week? I shared tips to reduce waste in your kitchen and things to consider when removing trees from your yard.

I recently ordered these white jeans and I think they will be a summer staple. They are high waisted (love) and they aren’t see through like other white jeans I’ve tried on.

This week was eventful between traveling to St. Louis for work one day, celebrating Nathan’s birthday, and trying to squeeze in a bunch of yard work in between all the rain. We have had a lot of rain this spring in Kansas City and it’s not showing signs of stopping this next week. It’s so nice to get rain and have everything be so green, but it makes it hard to enjoy time outside!

We had some friends and family over for a birthday BBQ party for Nathan this weekend. Nathan smoked chicken, pork, and ribs, and I made potato salad, pasta salad, fruit and veggie tray, and his favorite treat (monster cookies) into bar form. We are still following the AIP diet most of the time, so I made as many of the foods as I can AIP friendly. I am doing the AIP diet (and Nathan is doing it will me) to help address some underlying autoimmune issues that I have in hopes to help with fertility. You can read a bit more about it here.

In preparation for the party we got a few of our spring-cleaning tasks done, including one thing that has been on my list for a while – cleaning the upholstery on our sofa. I bought this Bissell Little Green and it worked so well on our sofa fabric, which is performance velvet. I used it on a few other pieces around the house and it worked really well on everything! I will be adding this to my cleaning rotation once or twice a year.

Our exterior update plans for 2019 are already in the works; we cut a few trees down, I am working on a front porch refresh that will come to the blog soon, we are planning to have a new stamped concrete patio poured our back next month, and the exterior of our house is scheduled to be painted in early July! We have been saving for about a year for all of these projects since we prefer to pay in cash and it is so rewarding to finally have our exterior dreams start coming to life! I have been pinning away my exterior inspiration on this board if you want a peek at what overall feel we are going with.

In my weekend edition post two weeks ago, you may have noticed different art on our mantle. I ordered this seascape print and this modern print from Etsy and had the prints printed and custom framed through Frame It Easy. You can use code ‘ALLIE’ to get 10% off your Frame It Easy purchase.

I cannot wait to follow along with Casey’s new adventure.

Our upstairs bathroom has been slooooow progress; a) because we are lucky enough that we have our full master bathroom downstairs (plus a powder room!) so we don’t need it and b) we have been trying to take projects a little slower, especially when they are in not frequently used areas of the house. But, we did make some exciting progress last weekend – the floor tile is almost finished! We hope to pick work back up on it in a few weeks since we will be gone the next two weekends in Florida!

Hope you have enjoyed your weekend 😊
