Fresh flowers are my way of tricking myself into thinking spring is coming despite the still frigid temps.

This weekend we are headed to Dallas to see one of my best friends and her boyfriend. I am so excited to see them, explore Dallas, and be able to spend time outside since the weather is supposed to be substantially warmer than what’s predicted for KC this weekend! I always procrastinate packing, but I know I will be using my trusty weekender bag. I’m always astonished at how much it holds, and I have ended up using it for week long trips too with no issues.

We plan to start tiling in the upstairs bathroom soon! Nathan is working to put the final pieces of cement backer board in the shower surround this week and once we waterproof everything we’ll be starting what I assume is going to be multiple days (or weekends) of tiling, which means we need to buy the tile. I have been putting this off because I keep changing my mind! I have not strayed from the original overall vision, but the specific tile we end up with will likely be a bit different than I had planned. A tile DIY will be coming at you soon!

Melissa of The Faux Martha recently wrote a post about going grey. I do not too many grey hairs yet, but her perspective was so refreshing.

I want to preface this by saying I am not a doctor or a nutritionist. This is simply what my doctor suggested for me to do based on my situation. I am still following the Auto Immune Paleo Protocol diet (AIP for short) 80-90% of the time, while being 100% gluten free, to help with fertility and address underlaying autoimmune issues I have – Nathan is doing the diet with me which is so helpful. A month and half in and things are going well. I have clearer skin, do not have the severe fatigue I was hit with around 2pm everyday before, and I all around feel great, better than I have in years. Despite how good I feel, I still find myself missing my favorite foods so I have been trying to find alternatives to use while on this journey. One thing I have been missing is baked goods, so I have been dabbling in AIP baking. If you are paleo or just want gluten free alternative, these biscuits and these banana muffins are so good. No, they don’t taste exactly like the real deal, but when you haven’t eaten baked goods in a while they are heavenly.

This blog post about the inspiring interiors of Nancy Meyer’s movie sets was spot on. My favorite movies (and interiors) of hers are Father of the Bride and It’s Complicated, but every movie I have watched of hers leaves me feeling inspired to think of different ways to create a cozy, welcoming, and beautiful home.

Hope you enjoy your weekend!
