We just returned from a trip to Arizona and were able to explore the Grand Canyon – pictures absolutely do not do the scale and beauty justice, though I still took many pictures. Nathan is fascinated by these R2R2R speed (FKT) attempts. We are already talking about a return trip and where we would spend more time next time we go. We plan on writing a blog post all about our time in Arizona and how we approached our trip with a toddler along for the ride. Traveling with a toddler is a whole new ball game for us and we learned plenty of things along the way.

I shared on my Instagram stories this week that I’m on a bit of a fabric shaving and de-pilling kick. I use an inexpensive Conair fabric shaver and it always gets the job done, so quickly too! You can make an item where the fabric has pilled look brand new. It’s worked well for me on pillows, sweaters, blankets, and really anything where the fabric has pilled.

I know it isn’t spring yet but we have fallen hard into a spring cleaning mindset. We talked about our plans for the first half of 2022 here. One of our big jobs is getting our basement not only cleaned up, but organized too. If you are anything like us, our unfinished basement (and garage) has become a graveyard for prior project remnants. Clean up is been easier said than done, but during our research for ways to better organize our basement we came across this cut off lumber organizer – we are using this design as inspiration for a storage solution of our own. If it turns out like you might see a DIY tutorial in the future.

Juicing had a moment in our household a few years ago. We aren’t into anything as serious as a 100% juice cleanse, but we enjoy making juice on the weekends. Its definitely hydrating and packs in a few extra veggies when we feel like we’re lacking in the veggie department. We have experimented with a number of different blends but tend to come back to some variation on this celery ginger recipe depending on what we have in our refrigerator. We use a Breville Juice Fountain and love the simplicity of it.

THINGS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE THIS WEEK:

We are nerds about trying to optimize the way we manage projects, both of us have some experience in this realm from our corporate careers, so when we saw this Gantt chart Chris Loves Julia posted for current projects we geeked out a little bit. We have a goal to be a bit more regimented with our project tracking in the future and using something like a Gantt chart could be really helpful

We’ve been working on thinking about our problems in terms of first principles. Or breaking problems down to basic elements and reassembling them for ourselves.

A lot of offices are opening back up meaning we need to remember how to operate in a face to face work environment again – we found these tips and graphics on office etiquette to be relevant and useful reminders to help ease back into an office setting. I especially like the email like a boss graphic.
