We’ve had our cream area rug for 2 years now. During this time I have received a number of questions about it. How’s it holding up? Is it pet friendly? Would you buy it again? I thought it would be helpful to write it all out in a post.

WHAT WE LIKE

I’ll start out by saying we are not easy on our rugs. This rug was in our living room for almost 2 years before we moved it into our bedroom a few months ago. We have 2 dogs that much to my dismay track dirt and hair everywhere – it’s a good thing they’re cute 😊

THE COLOR & PATTERN

I love the color of the rug. The base is cream with a darker gray pattern. Yes, you read that right, it’s mostly cream. I was hesitant to buy a cream rug mostly because of the dogs, but also because we’re human and we spill things. Though it may look white in pictures, the color is definitely cream. The darker cream and pattern really do wonders for hiding dirt and stains! I was honestly shocked.

Becausethe rug is neutral it fits with many different types of décor and can easily be a chameleon piece from room to room.

THE PRICE POINT

The price of this rug is probably the #1 reason why I actually bought it. For such a large rug it is really very affordable, especially considering that the rug does not feel cheap.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

THE MATERIAL

I really try to make it a priority to buy natural materials when it comes to items in my closet and in my home. Wool, leather, linen, cotton, jute, sisal, and silk are among the top of my preferences. The only problem is wool and silk rugs can be very pricey. Jute, sisal rugs, and even cotton are more affordable, but I don’t love to use them in our living room or bedrooms because they can be a little scratchy, very durable, but not the most comfortable. Not that wool or silk rugs are not worth the price, because you do get what you pay for, but with 2 active dogs and hopefully little ones in the distant future I knew I did not want to be spending thousands on rugs for our house. I compromised, and our larger rugs are mostly man-made materials (read: not natural), and our smaller rugs are mostly jute, sisal, cotton, and wool. Our cream rug is made of synthenic material. It has held up really well and we plan to keep it until it wears out but there are times I wish the material of our rug was more in line with the other materials I try to bring into our home.

Another point on the material is in a *few* areas some of the threads/loops have pulled out. Not too many and given the amount of zoomies our dog, Pete, runs around the house I am surprised it is not more, but if the material was looped this would not be an issue. This is really a very, very minor issue though, but wanted to note it.

WOULD WE BUY IT AGAIN?

Despite the material factor, I would 100% buy it again. The rug has help up so well and was a great neutral base for our living room and now our bedroom.
